Tom Rossau: Handmade Danish Lamella Lamps
Light, coaxed out of flat material. Every Tom Rossau lamp starts as a stack of thin strips of birch veneer, Japanese paper or soft nonwoven. In the Copenhagen workshop, one lamp builder twists and presses them, strip by strip, until they become a sculpture that hides the bulb and turns it into a glow.
The story began in 2005, when Tom Rossau, a designer from Odsherred on Denmark’s north-west coast, pressed wooden slats into a cylinder just to see what would happen. The more pressure he applied, the more expressive the shape became. That experiment became the TR5, and it set the language for everything since: the slim TR7 column, the hourglass TR10, the graphic TR37 and the Danish Design Awards-nominated TR41.
US versions, 120V and UL listed. In-stock sizes leave our US warehouse in about 3 business days; made-to-order pieces are handmade in Copenhagen in about 10 weeks.
