The Design Story

The Mayuhana series, designed by architect Toyo Ito for Yamagiwa, takes its idea from the cocoon. The Mayuhana 2 models use two layers of spun fiberglass; the Oval is the widest and flattest of them, a low, generous form that spreads its light out rather than up.
