The Design Story

Teúkhō began with the Garzitto family, a historic timber name in Friuli. Their material is fossil oak: trunks that fell into rivers thousands of years ago and slowly mineralized under sand and gravel, becoming harder and darker without turning to stone. Degano shaped that ancient wood into the purest form he could think of, the sinusoid, because light itself travels as a wave.

What inspired the wave shape of the Lambda?

Designer Luca Degano drew on the sinusoid: light travels as an electromagnetic wave, and the lamp traces that wave in wood. The name borrows λ, the Greek letter used for wavelength.

How old is the wood in the Lambda Black?

Teukho works with non-petrified fossil oak logs dating from about 5000 to 6000 BC, and the brand dates its woods with Carbon-14 testing.

What kind of light does the Lambda Black give?

A soft, diffused line of 3000K warm-white LED light that follows the curve of the wood. A touch switch dims it, so it can go from a gentle glow to a brighter accent.

Where does the Lambda look best at home or work?
