Skyline Chess New York vs Los Angeles Edition brings New York and Los Angeles to the chessboard in weighted acrylic.
Every piece is a building, every side a skyline. Each side is a city: New York’s architecture takes on Los Angeles’s.
The Design Story
Skyline Chess was founded by two London-based architectural designers with a simple idea: take the world’s great buildings and set them against each other on the board. The result reads as a cityscape at rest and turns into a game the moment someone makes the first move.
Why You'll Love It
- Injection-moulded acrylic keeps the architecture crisp, and the pieces are double-weighted with soft felt bases.
- The hand-printed wooden hatch-pattern board frames the skyline as much as it hosts the game.
- It is a full 32-piece set, so it plays as standard chess.
- The presentation box makes it ready to give.
Made for Real Life
The board is 15 inches square, sized for a coffee table or desk. If you play tournament chess and want classic Staunton shapes, this is not your set: the buildings take a game or two to learn. The distributor does not publish the acrylic set’s weight.
