Skyline Chess Dubai Edition brings Dubai to the chessboard in weighted acrylic.
Every piece is a building, every side a skyline. The pieces are Dubai’s landmarks, including Cayan Tower, the Burj Al Arab, Rose Rotana, Princess Tower and the Burj Khalifa.
The Design Story
Skyline Chess was founded by two London-based architectural designers with a simple idea: take the world’s great buildings and set them against each other on the board. The result reads as a cityscape at rest and turns into a game the moment someone makes the first move.
Why You'll Love It
- Injection-moulded acrylic keeps the architecture crisp, and the pieces are double-weighted with soft felt bases.
- The hand-printed Dubai map board on marble frames the skyline as much as it hosts the game.
- It is a full 32-piece set, so it plays as standard chess.
- The presentation box makes it ready to give.
Made for Real Life
The board is 15 inches square, sized for a coffee table or desk. If you play tournament chess and want classic Staunton shapes, this is not your set: the buildings take a game or two to learn. The distributor does not publish the acrylic set’s weight.

Questions We Hear Most
How do you tell the pieces apart in the Skyline Chess Dubai Edition?
Each role is a building rather than a Staunton shape. Most players learn the line-up within a game; the product photos show the starting setup.
Is the Skyline Chess Dubai Edition for display or for play?
Both. It is a complete 32-piece set with felt-based pieces and a 15-inch board, so it plays as standard chess, and it is designed to stay out on display between games.
What is the Skyline Chess Dubai Edition made of?
The pieces are injection-moulded acrylic, double-weighted, with felt bases. The board is a hand-printed Dubai map board on marble.
Would the Skyline Chess Dubai Edition make a good gift for an architect?
It is one of the most natural gifts for anyone who loves buildings, and it arrives in a presentation box.
Who is behind the Skyline Chess Dubai Edition?
Skyline Chess, founded by two London-based architectural designers who turn iconic architecture from around the world into chess sets.
Why We Love It
It treats architecture the way we like to treat every object: as something to live with, use and talk about.
