Peter Maly Fireside Tools with Floor Stand is the piece Conmoto started with in 1997, and it still looks ahead of its time.
A slender stainless steel column holds three tools with ribbed leather grips. Nothing ornamental, nothing extra: just the right tools, standing where you need them.
The Design Story
Peter Maly, one of Europe's most influential furniture designers, created this set when he could not find contemporary fireplace tools he liked. Conmoto, founded in Münster, Germany, in 1997, began with it. The geometry is pure Maly: a square column, straight lines, and leather where your hand meets the steel.
Why You'll Love It
- The leather handles are ribbed all the way around, so they stay comfortable and secure when the tools are warm.
- The stand takes up only 5.5 inches square, so it disappears beside a hearth instead of crowding it.
- Brushed V2A stainless steel keeps its finish with very little upkeep.
- It is a design-history piece you actually use every evening in fire season.
Made for Real Life
Pull the poker to shift a log, use the tongs to place a new one, sweep cooled ash with the shovel, and drop everything back into the column. Wipe the steel now and then; that is all it asks.

Questions We Hear Most
What's in the box when I order the Peter Maly Fireside Tools with Floor Stand?
The order includes the poker, tongs and ash shovel, plus the freestanding floor stand.
Will the Peter Maly Fireside Tools with Floor Stand fit my fireplace area?
It measures 35.4" H × 5.5" W × 5.5" D (90 × 14 × 14 cm). Conmoto lists the stand at 90 cm (35.4") tall and 14 cm (5.5") square; our distributor rounds the height to 36".
What is the design story behind the Peter Maly Fireside Tools with Floor Stand?
It comes from Peter Maly for the German design house Conmoto and is produced in Germany.
How do I keep the Peter Maly Fireside Tools with Floor Stand looking new?
Our tip, since the distributor does not publish care guidance: buff the steel with a barely damp cloth, then a dry one, and use a stainless polish for smudges. Keep the leather grips away from the flames and dust them with a dry cloth.
When will my Peter Maly Fireside Tools with Floor Stand leave the warehouse?
In-stock orders typically leave within 2–3 business days, and we keep pricing and stock matched to the US distributor.
Why does the Peter Maly set use leather handles?
The leather keeps your hand off the steel, which can warm up near the fire, and the ribs around each grip stop the tool from slipping.
Why We Love It
Few objects in a room are touched as often in winter as the fireplace tools. This set makes that ritual feel considered, and it is built to last decades.
