Perseo 15 Murano Glass Wall Sconce by Produzione Privata

Perseo 15 Murano Glass Wall Sconce by Produzione Privata — a small bubble of white satin Murano glass that glows like a paper lantern.

Designed in Milan, made by hand in Italy.

The Design Story

Michele De Lucchi, a leading figure of radical Italian design since the 1970s and a veteran of the Memphis group, founded Produzione Privata with Sibylle Kicherer in 1990 as a place to make objects with complete freedom, away from the logic of mass production. Working with artisan laboratories in glass, ceramics, wood and metal, the studio gives the hand the last word. Its glass is blown on Murano piece by piece, which is why every lamp is a sibling, never a twin.

Why You’ll Love It

Perseo is the quiet one of the family, a small bubble of white Murano glass that glows like a paper lantern. Blown by hand, its gently faceted surface softens the light into something warm and calm. It makes corridors feel considered and bedrooms feel restful, and in pairs it frames a bed or a doorway beautifully.

Made for Real Life

An electrician wires it to the wall; then a soft cloth now and then is all it needs. For a wall light you can turn, see the Acquaparete Murano Glass Wall Light by Produzione Privata.

Questions We Hear Most

Why is the Perseo 15 named after a Greek hero?

De Lucchi’s studio liked the idea that a heroic life deserves remembering, so the lamp carries the name of Perseus, slayer of Medusa.

What size is the Perseo 15 in centimetres?

The diffuser is 15 cm wide and 16 cm high (5.9 × 6.3 in).

Does the Perseo 15 remind you of a paper lantern?

It is meant to: the blown bubble echoes the shape and delicacy of Japanese paper lanterns, in glass.

What kind of light does the Perseo 15 give?

A gentle, diffused glow through the white satin glass, ideal for corridors and bedsides.

Where does the Perseo 15 look best? (our styling advice)

In pairs either side of a bed or a doorway, or repeated down a hallway; lovely in Japandi and calm modern rooms.

How should I look after the Perseo 15?

Power off, let it cool, then wipe the glass with a soft cloth; a little water removes fingerprints.
