Elephant Table by Marc Venot is a solid beech elephant that happens to be a table, made for drawing, puzzles, tea parties and grand adventures.
EO calls it a new classic and collector’s item, and it looks the part: smooth matte lacquer, gentle curves and an elephant you see at once without a single cartoon detail.
The Design Story
French designer Marc Venot created the Elephant Chair & Table for EO, the Copenhagen design house founded in 2013 by Nicole & Tor Vitner Servé, the founders of EO. Venot trained at ENSCI–Les Ateliers, worked with Hermès and Cartier, and has designed for Thonet and Normann Copenhagen. According to EO, the set has been featured in Phaidon’s Design for Children and in Architectural Digest.
Why You’ll Love It
Fine European beech gives it warmth and weight, with no laminate in sight. The matte lacquer wipes clean with a damp cloth. It’s sized for ages 3 to 11, so it grows with your child for years. The sculptural form works in a kitchen or living room as easily as a playroom. And it’s the kind of piece that gets passed to the next generation.
Made for Real Life
Wipe with a damp cloth, add a mild soap if needed, and dry right away. For the first 8 weeks, move objects around on the top now and then; EO notes new wood reacts to sunlight. Chairs are sold separately.
