Original BTC Neo Sconce is a wall light designed by Buchanan Studio and made in England by the Oxfordshire lighting house founded by Peter Bowles in 1990.
$999. Wired for North America (120V AC).
The Design Story
London’s Buchanan Studio designed the Neotenic collection with Original BTC around the craft of glassmaking, soft curves and a wink to Neapolitan ice cream, hence Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla. Each shade is shaped entirely by hand by Original BTC’s glassblowers in Oxfordshire. Each shade is blown by hand in Original BTC’s Oxfordshire glassworks, part of a glassmaking business it rescued in 2011 to keep the craft in Britain.
Why You’ll Love It
It feels joyful without being a novelty: rounded, glowing glass in sweet, grown-up colors. Handmade glass gives every shade small variations and a depth of color that machine-made glass can’t match.
Made for Real Life
It is wired into the wall by an electrician for a clean, cord-free look. Let it cool, then wipe the glass with a soft cloth. Tiny bubbles or shifts in tone are the marks of hand-blown glass.
