Braun BC21 Wireless Charging Alarm Clock in black: a alarm clock from the German design house whose watches and clocks were shaped by Dieter Rams and Dietrich Lubs.
$180. New, from Braun’s official US distributor.
The Design Story
Braun went back to 1976 for the BC21: its shape comes from the DN 40 digital alarm clock by Dieter Rams and Dietrich Lubs. The new job is charging: set the phone on the silicone pad behind the display and leave it there.
Why You’ll Love It
It quietly solves the phone-on-the-nightstand problem: the phone charges behind the clock, face away, while the display dims itself for the night. Braun is where so much of modern product design started: Dieter Rams and Dietrich Lubs drew watches and clocks for the company that still look current half a century later.
Made for Real Life
A soft, dry cloth is all it needs; skip sprays and solvents on the screen or glass.
