Humble began in 2018, when founder Jorren Teertstra teamed up with friends at the Amsterdam design studio APE to make a modern alternative to candles, without the mess of wires. The result was the One: a long-lasting battery under a signature bulb that glows like a candle. Its friendly, unassuming character gave the whole brand its name.

Why You’ll Love It

It looks like a single filament bulb sitting on a small pedestal, and that simplicity is the point. At 2200K the light is deep and amber, closer to a flame than to a lamp. Nine finishes run from matte Moss and Cinnamon to Oak, Walnut, White Marble and Gold, so it can be playful or polished. And because the bulb and battery can be replaced, it is made to stay on your table for years.

Made for Real Life

Wipe with a soft cloth dampened only with water while the lamp is off; don’t use cleaning solvents on the base, bulb or shade, and let it air dry thoroughly (care notes from the US distributor). The battery, LED and other parts are replaceable, according to Humble, so a worn part doesn’t mean a new lamp. Keep it company with single bamboo charger, double bamboo charger, Charging Dock Six, RF remote, travel case.

Why choose the Humble One over a real candle?

There is no flame, wax or smoke, so it is safe around children, fabrics and windy terraces, and one charge lasts many evenings (up to 140 hours). The light is warm, 2200K.

Can I take the Humble One out to the garden?

Yes. With its IP65 rating it shrugs off rain, so it can live outside for the evening. Bring it in to charge.

What do I need to keep the Humble One charged?

Nothing extra to start: a USB-C cable is included (bring your own USB adapter). For cable-free charging, add a Humble wireless charger or the Charging Dock Six.

Can I dim several Humble One lamps at once?

Yes. The Humble RF remote (sold separately) adjusts several lamps together within 10 m.

Which Humble One finish should I pick?

All finishes cost the same except Gold: $185–$210. Metal shades and smoked glass look crisp and evening-ready; linen and frosted shades soften the light; colors make it a focal point. Options: Cinnamon, Moss, Beige, Black, Black Wood, Oak, Walnut, White Marble, Gold.
