Bud Cordless Lamp by Melissa Yip for Innermost — a little cordless lamp that looks like a flower bud holding its own light.
Innermost has closed its doors, which makes these some of the last new pieces available. When a finish is gone, it is gone.
The Design Story
Melissa Yip borrowed from nature: two petal shapes cradle a translucent globe, as if protecting it. The globe rests on a thin silicone pad, so pressing it is how you talk to the lamp: once for on, again for brighter.
Why You’ll Love It
It goes wherever the evening goes, from the dinner table to the balcony to a child’s room at bedtime. Six solid colors (Ocean, Ash, Lemon, Aubergine, Fluro and Olive) make it as much an object as a light, and a full charge lasts a weekend of evenings.
Made for Real Life
Charge it with the included micro-USB cable in about five hours. It is rated IP20 for dry locations; Innermost notes it shrugs off a splash, but dry it before charging. Pairs well with Parasol table lamp, YOY illusion table lamp and Jeeves bowler hat table lamp.

Innermost began in London in 1999, when Steve Jones and Russell Cameron left design consultancy to build a lighting brand that mixed English tradition with a punkish, non-conformist streak. Concept, quality and wit were the house rules.
