The Bride Pendant M by Ieva Kalēja for Mammalampa — a cloud of hand-braided paper that seems to float, glowing soft and warm.
Made by hand in Riga, Latvia, by the family studio Mammalampa, and sized at 23.6 inches: the version that suits the most rooms.
The Design Story
Ieva Kalēja has said the idea for The Bride came to her in a dream. She then experimented until she found a braid that makes the lamp look weightless once it is lit, as if it were not subject to gravity. The name comes from the mood it creates: soft, romantic and unmistakably feminine, like a veil of light. Every shade is braided by hand, so the pattern of each Bride belongs to her alone.
Ieva Kalēja, the Riga designer behind Mammalampa, was named by Elle Decor in 2020 among the ten most talented women designers in the world, as reported by FOLD magazine, and in 2026 she leads the product-design jury of Latvia’s National Design Award.
Why You’ll Love It
Lit, the braid melts into a diffused, almost floating glow; unlit, it is a sculpture of soft folds. At 23.6 inches the medium Bride is generous over a dining table and calm above a bed, yet it weighs only 3.5 lb. Six colors take it from airy White and earthy Brown to deep Graphite and painterly Pink, Turquoise and Mint.
Made for Real Life
It hardwires to a white steel canopy on up to 80 inches of textile-lined cord and takes a single E26 LED bulb, up to 50W, dimmable with a dimmable bulb. Care is simple: a soft brush keeps the paper dust-free, and it should stay dry. Pairs beautifully with the The Bride small pendant, The Bride grand pendant and The Bride floor lamp.

Questions We Hear Most
Why is it called The Bride?
The braided paper falls like a dress or a veil, and the atmosphere it creates is soft and feminine; Mammalampa says each Bride has her own personality.
Will my Bride look exactly like the photos?
Close, but not identical: each shade is braided by hand, so the pattern of the braid is unique to your lamp.
Which Bride color suits my room?
White keeps minimal and Scandinavian rooms light; Brown warms natural interiors; Graphite adds contrast to modern spaces; Pink feels romantic; Turquoise and Mint bring a fresh, calm accent.
Does The Bride come in other sizes?
Yes: a small 19.7" pendant, a large 31.5" pendant, medium and large floor lamps, and a table lamp, all in the same braided paper.
Who designed The Bride?
Ieva Kalēja, the founder and designer of Mammalampa in Riga, Latvia.
Why does my The Bride pendant take about 55 days?
Mammalampa makes each lamp by hand in Latvia after it is ordered, so yours is made for you rather than pulled from a shelf.

Why We Love It
A light that feels handmade because it truly is, from a studio that lets the material lead. Mammalampa is a family studio in Riga, Latvia, built around one idea: start with a real material, do as little to it as possible, and let light reveal it. Every lamp is made by hand, which is why no two are ever quite the same.
