The circular base spins, and a wooden foot lifts the shade slightly, so the lamp seems to float above the table.
The Design Story
The TR31 is a 2023 redesign in which Tom Rossau improved both the composition and the function of an earlier idea. The table version adds a turning base and a wooden foot. The studio began with an experiment: Tom Rossau pressed thin strips of wood into a cylinder to see how they would bend, and the harder he pressed, the more expressive the shape became. That experiment became the TR5 in 2005, and every lamp since has followed the same idea of flat material coaxed into sculpture, built by hand in Copenhagen.
