Zanuso is a table lamp with a large, rotating opal diffuser on a curved metal support, designed by Marco Zanuso in 1963 for Oluce.
It comes in 2 colors: White and Nut Brown.
The Design Story
Oluce, founded in Milan in 1945, makes Zanuso around one big gesture: a wide, domed diffuser of opal acrylic that sits on a slim curved support and turns to aim the light. It was first conceived as a desk lamp, yet it was meant to light a table in any setting, not only an office. The diffuser spreads a soft, even glow over the surface below, so the lamp lights a corner of a room as much as a work area.
The Story
Marco Zanuso drew the model 275 in 1963, and it was later renamed Zanuso in his honor. It remains one of the most recognizable table lamps in the Oluce collection, a clean architectural form that has kept its look across decades of interior fashion.
The Designer
Marco Zanuso studied architecture at the Milan Polytechnic from 1935 to 1939 and worked in Milan from 1945 as an architect, urban planner and designer. He is regarded as a leading figure of postwar Italian design. He edited the magazines Domus and Casabella in the late 1940s, co-founded the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (ADI) in 1956 and served as its president from 1966 to 1969. From 1958 to 1977 he worked with the German designer Richard Sapper on furniture, lamps and electrical appliances. His architecture includes the Olivetti factories in Buenos Aires and São Paulo and the Necchi office building in Pavia. He died in Milan in 2001.
“Subsequently renamed Zanuso, the 275 lamp was originally conceived for use as a desk lamp.”
Oluce, on Zanuso
How It Was Made
The diffuser is opal PMMA (acrylic), and the curved support and base are painted metal. Oluce makes Zanuso in Italy. The diffuser rotates, so you can turn the glow toward the table, the wall or the room.

Why You’ll Love It
Zanuso gives a wide, soft pool of light without glare, and the opal dome looks sculptural even when it is switched off. The rotating diffuser lets you aim the light where you need it. It is a lamp with presence that still keeps quiet in a calm room.
Made for Real Life
The lamp takes one E26 bulb up to 70W. The bulb is not included, so you can choose the warmth and brightness that suit your room. It is not listed as dimmable. Wipe the diffuser and base with a soft dry cloth and avoid abrasive or solvent cleaners.
