Whistler is a slim wall light with a curved shade of cloudy, translucent glass and small satin brass pins, made by CTO Lighting of London. It is 5.5 in wide, 4.9 in deep and 11.8 in tall.
It comes in Satin Brass with a fritted glass shade.
The Design Story
Whistler balances a traditional design with a modern one. CTO's artisans texture the curved glass in a long process to get a cloudy, translucent finish, and a few brass details finish it. The narrow profile suits tight spaces such as hallways and staircases.
The Story of CTO Lighting
Chris and Clare Turner founded CTO Lighting in London in 1998 on one principle: design lights of uncompromising quality, using only the finest materials and working with elite British craftsmen. Chris is an engineer who designs and builds with meticulous detail, and Clare brings the eye of fashion. Together they built a name for understated luxury in hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-cut stone, and the collection has gone on to light The Savoy, The Dorchester, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.
How It Was Made
CTO's artisans texture each glass shade by hand in a long process, then CTO fits the brass detailing and assembles the light in England.
The Finishes
Satin Brass. Warm golden tones and a brushed, satin surface give a soft sheen that feels luxurious but understated. CTO selects the metal for its durability and beauty.
Fritted glass. The glass has a fine, frosted grain that scatters the light into a cloudy, even glow and hides the bulb.
Finish and Material Samples
These photos show each finish or material on CTO Lighting pieces. The shape and shade differ on this light.

Why You’ll Love It
The glass looks soft in the day and glows at night. The slim shape leaves room to walk past, and the brass pins add a small, tidy detail.
Made for Real Life
The 110-130V version takes one G9 bulb, 25W maximum halogen or a 2.3W LED at 2700K, and needs a dimmable bulb with a leading- or trailing-edge dimmer to dim. It weighs 6.6 lb. CTO rates its bathroom range IP44 but notes the lights are not damp rated at 110-130V, so use this one in dry indoor spaces and check local code. Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Skip detergents and abrasives.
Size in Inches
CTO lists Whistler at 140 mm wide, 125 mm deep and 300 mm high (5.5 in by 4.9 in by 11.8 in). The diagram is in the photo gallery.

Questions We Hear Most
Can I use it in a bathroom?
CTO rates the Whistler range IP44 for bathrooms, but it says the lights are not damp rated at 110-130V. Keep this version out of wet areas and check your local code.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, with a dimmable bulb. CTO lists a leading- or trailing-edge dimmer for the 110-130V version.
What bulb does it take?
One G9 bulb, 25W maximum halogen or a 2.3W LED at 2700K. CTO does not list a bulb as supplied.
Is it good for narrow spaces?
Yes. CTO describes the profile as narrow, and suggests hallways and staircases as well as bathrooms.
How do I clean it?
Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. If a mark remains, use a slightly damp lint-free cloth, then dry it with a soft dry one. CTO advises against detergents and abrasive cleaners.
Why We Love It
Whistler is quiet and well made: textured glass, a few brass pins, and a soft glow.
