Wandering Star, a small pendant cut from stone

Wandering Star sets a disc of solid European marble over a cast glass lens, with hairline bronze details at the join. The stone is the shade, the glass is the light, and a silver coaxial cable carries both with barely a visible line.

Five marbles give it five characters: the graphic Black Marble, two Carrara whites in gloss or matte, the saturated Indian Green and the sand-toned Travertino. Both sizes are lit by a built-in LED.

The designer and the story

Filipe Lisboa began his career in Portugal, moved into lighting and founded Viso in 1999. Wandering Star is one of his designs for the company: a small, precise pendant that pairs European marble with cast glass.

Who this is not for

Marble is a natural material, so veining differs from piece to piece and no two will match exactly. Wandering Star is also a small, decorative source rather than a task light.

Where does the name and form come from?

Viso presents Wandering Star as a dual-tone globe pairing marble and glass. It is designed by Filipe Lisboa, who founded Viso in 1999.

What are the materials?

A solid European marble top, a cast glass lens, hairline bronze details and a silver coaxial cable.

What is the light like?

The integrated LED is 3000K, a warm white, at 440 lm in the 4.3 inch and 960 lm in the 6 inch. The glass lens directs the light down and out from beneath the stone.

Which marble works with which interiors?

Black Marble reads graphic against pale walls, Carrara (gloss or matte) is classic and light, Indian Green adds colour, and Travertino brings a warm, sandy note that sits well with timber and plaster.

How do I look after the marble?

Our advice: dust with a soft dry cloth and wipe up spills quickly. Viso does not publish care instructions for Wandering Star, so avoid acidic cleaners on stone.

What should I confirm before ordering?

Choose the marble and diameter, check the 106 inch overall drop against your ceiling, and match your dimmer to Triac, ELV or 0-10V.
