Trace Circular Halo Chandelier by CTO Lighting

Trace Circular Halo is the largest round piece in the Trace collection, two stacked tiers of curved bronze strands holding shades of liquid cast glass, made by CTO Lighting of London. It is 51.4 in across and 20.9 in high, made for a large dining room, a double-height hall or an atrium.

It comes in 2 finishes: Antique Bronze and Bronze, each with liquid cast glass, and 2 canopy options: a ceiling plate or a ceiling rose.

The Design Story

Trace celebrates connection and scalability. CTO drew on the natural world and the work of sculptor Andy Goldsworthy, and each component is joined with care, which gives the whole piece an airy, delicate look. Curved metal strands carry shades of veiled glass that give a soft, diffused glow.

The Story of CTO Lighting

Chris and Clare Turner founded CTO Lighting in London in 1998 on one principle: design lights of uncompromising quality, using only the finest materials and working with elite British craftsmen. Chris is an engineer who designs and builds with meticulous detail, and Clare brings the eye of fashion. Together they built a name for understated luxury in hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-cut stone, and the collection has gone on to light The Savoy, The Dorchester, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.

How It Was Made

CTO assembles every light to order. Curved strands in antique bronze or bronze carry shades of liquid cast glass, which CTO also calls veiled glass. The glass comes from Italian glass workshops, where liquid opal is combined with the pulegoso technique: molten glass is poured into a steel mould, shaped by hand and annealed slowly, which gives it a semi-translucent, misty surface.

The Finishes

Antique Bronze. Rich, deep tones with a natural patina. Each fixture shows the character of the material and the hand of the British artisans who finish it.

Bronze. Deep, rich color and a robust build bring a touch of historical weight to a modern room, with a warm, inviting glow.

Liquid Cast Glass. Called veiled glass by CTO. Molten glass is poured at over 800 C into a steel mould, hand-shaped with softened edges and annealed slowly for 24 hours, giving a semi-translucent, mist-like surface.

Made for Real Life

The 110-130V version has an integrated 84W LED at 2700K, dimmable with a trailing-edge (phase-cut) dimmer. It is a very heavy fitting at 77.2 lb with the plate and 94.8 lb with the rose, so the ceiling fixing must be rated for it. Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth and avoid abrasives.

Is Trace Circular Halo dimmable?

Yes. CTO lists trailing-edge (phase-cut) dimming for the 110-130V version. DALI and 0-10V control are listed only for 220-240V.

What is the difference between the ceiling plate and the ceiling rose?

They are the two canopy options for the same light. The plate is a flat 4.6 in (116 mm) square mounting plate, and the LED driver sits in the ceiling cavity, up to 65.6 ft (20 m) from the light. The rose is a 7.7 in (195 mm) square canopy, 1.6 in (40 mm) deep, and holds the driver itself, which adds to the total weight. The light itself is the same.

How heavy is it?

It weighs 77.2 lb (35 kg) with the plate and 94.8 lb (43 kg) with the rose. Plan for a ceiling fixing that can carry it.

How do I clean it?

Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. If a mark remains, use a slightly damp lint-free cloth, then dry it with a soft dry one. CTO advises against detergents and abrasive cleaners on metal and glass.
