Siro Table Lamp by Oluce

Siro is a semi-spherical LED table lamp with a disc-shaped reflector that releases an oblique, indirect light, designed in 2019 by Marta Perla for Oluce.

It comes in 2 sizes, Siro 287 and Siro 288, each with a satin gold or satin bronze reflector disc on a white diffuser sphere.

The Design Story

Oluce, founded in Milan in 1945, describes Siro as two flat elements that look perfectly balanced on a surface when seen from the front. A rounded white diffuser holds a slim LED source, and a lens-shaped reflector disc sits over part of it, sending the light out at an angle so the glow is indirect rather than a direct beam. The name comes from Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, after the human habit of searching the sky for links between the everyday and the cosmic.

The Designer

Marta Perla was born in 1995 in Terni and studied Product Design at IED in Rome after a foreign-language high school. Her dissertation at IED was developed together with Oluce. She focuses on the graphic side of a product and the concept behind it, drawing on influences such as Nendo, the Memphis Group and Wolfgang Weingart’s Swiss Punk design. She currently works as a junior designer at angelettiruzza design studio.

How It Was Made

Siro pairs a white diffuser sphere with a metal reflector disc finished in satin bronze or satin gold glaze aluminium. An integrated LED sits behind the disc and is dimmable with the included dimmer.

Siro has an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to replace: Siro 287 runs at up to 9W and 1300 lumens, Siro 288 at up to 13W and 1875 lumens, both at 2700K with a CRI above 90. It comes with a dimmer included, so you can set the mood from bright to low. Wipe the metal with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid abrasive or solvent cleaners.

What is the difference between Siro 287 and Siro 288?

They share the same shape and finishes. Siro 288 is the larger size, with a brighter LED (13W, 1875 lumens) than Siro 287 (9W, 1300 lumens), and costs more.

Yes. Siro is dimmable and comes with a dimmer included.

Does the Siro have a replaceable bulb?

No. The LED is integrated, so there is no bulb to buy or match.
