Signal, a lighthouse lens at domestic scale
Signal borrows its optic from the lighthouse. A Fresnel-inspired lens of borosilicate glass gathers the light from an integrated LED into concentric rings, giving the fixture a graphic face that looks sharp even when unlit.
Brushed Brass has the warmth of old marine hardware; Glossy Black is crisp and architectural. Two sizes let it work as a quiet marker or a bolder lamp.
The designer and the story
Signal is part of the Minimal Design Series by Viso Design Studio, the in-house team at the company Filipe Lisboa founded in 1999. Viso says the lens is inspired by those found in lighthouses and searchlights.

Where it works
Either side of an entry door, along a covered walkway, down a stair wall, or on a ceiling where the lens ring becomes a pattern. Viso lists it for indoor and outdoor installation.
Who this is not for
Signal is a compact accent, not a floodlight. Check the spec sheet for the weather rating before using it outdoors, and note the LED is not user-replaceable.
Questions, answered
What inspired Signal?
Viso says the Fresnel-inspired lens echoes those found in lighthouses and searchlights.
What is the lens made from?
Borosilicate glass, set in a Brushed Brass or Glossy Black fixture.
What is the light like?
3000K warm white, RA80+, about 870 lm from a 9 W integrated LED. The lens shapes the glow into rings.
How do the finishes behave?
Brushed Brass looks warm against painted wood, brick or plaster; Glossy Black is graphic against pale or masonry walls.
How do I clean it?
Our advice: let it cool and wipe the lens and body with a soft cloth. Viso does not publish care instructions for Signal.
What should I check before ordering?
Size, finish, mounting surface and the exposure rating on the spec sheet if it will be outdoors.
