Ring is a slim pendant of stacked metal rings on a black silk braided flex, made by CTO Lighting of London. It is 3.9 in across and 9.4 in high.

The Design Story

Ring is CTO's tribute to chiaroscuro, the art of using strong contrasts between light and shadow. CTO set out to create that effect within a single fitting: the light from within highlights the difference between the ring sizes, so the piece reads as sculpture when it is off and plays with light and shadow when it is on.

CTO calls the pendant a beautifully refined architectural hanging light. It hangs from a matching ceiling rose.

The Story of CTO Lighting

Chris and Clare Turner founded CTO Lighting in London in 1998 on one principle: design lights of uncompromising quality, using only the finest materials and working with elite British craftsmen. Chris is an engineer who designs and builds with meticulous detail, and Clare brings the eye of fashion. Together they built a name for understated luxury in hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-cut stone, and the collection has gone on to light The Savoy, The Dorchester, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.

How It Was Made

CTO's artisans make every Ring light to order in England, and finish the stacked metal rings in bronze, satin brass or satin nickel, depending on the piece.

The Finishes

Bronze. Deep, rich color and a robust build bring a touch of historical weight to a modern room, with a warm, inviting glow.

Satin Brass. Warm golden tones and a brushed, satin surface give a soft sheen that feels luxurious but understated. CTO selects the metal for its durability and beauty.

Made for Real Life

The 110-130V version takes one E12 LED bulb of 6W at 2700K. CTO lists it as LED only and needs a dimmable bulb to dim on a trailing-edge (phase-cut) dimmer. It weighs 4.4 lb, and CTO asks you to check that the ceiling can carry it. It is IP20 for dry indoor rooms. Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Skip detergents and abrasives.

Yes, with a dimmable bulb. CTO lists a trailing-edge (phase-cut) dimmer for the 110-130V version and DALI only for 220-240V.
