Otto Outdoor Floor Lamp by Oluce

Otto is an outdoor floor lamp, a path light with a slim disc base, a round stem and an adjustable half-sphere head, designed in 2019 for Oluce by Federica Farina.

It comes in one finish: painted Indian brown metal.

The Design Story

Oluce, founded in Milan in 1945, describes Otto as a path light with a soft, beguiling shape. A slim disc forms the base, a cylindrical stem rises from it, and on top sits an adjustable semi-sphere that houses the LED. The head can be tilted to send a strip of light in different directions, and the light is indirect, so the glow lands on the ground and the walls and not in your eyes.

The Designers

Federica Farina was born in Rome in 1996 and grew up in a multicultural household with an English mother and an Italian father. She graduated in product design from the Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome in 2018. Oluce describes her as curious and observant, someone who looks at reality from different points of view to create complete products.

“She brings thoughts to life.”

How It Was Made

Otto is made of painted metal in an Indian brown finish. The base, stem and reflector are all metal, and the LED is integrated into the half-sphere head, so there is no bulb to replace.

Why You’ll Love It

Otto lights a garden path, a terrace or the edge of a wall with a quiet, rounded form. The dark brown metal blends into planting and stone by day, and the tilting head lets you aim the light exactly where you need it at night.

Made for Real Life

The 6W LED is integrated and gives warm 3000K light at 600 lumens with a CRI above 85. The sheet lists the lamp as CE rated and IP44, and it is not dimmable. Wipe the metal with a soft damp cloth and avoid abrasive or solvent cleaners.
