Mezzo is a round opal glass globe that sits flush on a ceiling or a wall, made by CTO Lighting of London. It comes in 2 sizes, 5.1 in and 7.1 in across.
It comes in 2 finishes, Satin Brass and Polished Nickel.
The Design Story
CTO calls Mezzo contemporary and functional: a minimal design in high-quality raw materials that is built to last. The soft opal globe gives an even light, and the same fitting mounts on a ceiling or a wall, so one design can run through a whole room.
The Story of CTO Lighting
Chris and Clare Turner founded CTO Lighting in London in 1998 on one principle: design lights of uncompromising quality, using only the finest materials and working with elite British craftsmen. Chris is an engineer who designs and builds with meticulous detail, and Clare brings the eye of fashion. Together they built a name for understated luxury in hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-cut stone, and the collection has gone on to light The Savoy, The Dorchester, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.
How It Was Made
The backplate is hand-finished metal and the globe is opal glass. CTO assembles each Mezzo to order in England.
The Finishes
Satin Brass. Warm golden tones and a brushed, satin surface give a soft sheen that feels luxurious but understated. CTO selects the metal for its durability and beauty.
Polished Nickel. A bright, cool, mirror-like metal that picks up the white of the glass and suits crisp, clean rooms.
Finish and Material Samples

Why You’ll Love It
It is a simple globe with a small footprint. Use the small one over a mirror or in a hall, and the large one where a room needs more light. The opal glass hides the bulb and keeps the glow soft.
Made for Real Life
The 110-130V version takes one G9 bulb, 25W maximum halogen or a 2.3W LED at 2700K, and needs a dimmable bulb with a leading- or trailing-edge dimmer to dim. The small one weighs 2.2 lb and the large one 3.3 lb. CTO notes that its bathroom fixtures are IP44 rated but not damp rated at 110-130V, so we list this version as IP20 for dry indoor rooms. Wipe with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Skip detergents and abrasives.

Questions We Hear Most
Can it go on a wall and a ceiling?
Yes. CTO sells the same fitting as a wall or ceiling light.
Can I use it in a bathroom?
CTO rates its bathroom fixtures IP44, but it states they are not damp rated at 110-130V. For the US version we list IP20, so keep it out of wet areas and check local code.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, with a dimmable bulb. CTO lists a leading- or trailing-edge dimmer for the 110-130V version.
What bulb does it take?
One G9 bulb, 25W maximum halogen or a 2.3W LED at 2700K. CTO does not list a bulb as supplied.
How do I clean it?
Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. If a mark remains, use a slightly damp lint-free cloth, then dry it with a soft dry one. CTO advises against detergents and abrasive cleaners.
Why We Love It
Mezzo is the plain, good globe: soft light, a small metal cap, and two sizes that work together.
