The Design Story
Luma is a Besa ceiling light built around its glass. Hand-blown Opal Glossy glass (a polished outer layer over an opal inner layer) with a clear edge that forms a halo. Besa’s signature is the glass. American designers work with European craftsmen, every shade is made by hand, and each one is inspected in Ohio before it leaves the factory, so the small variations you see are the mark of a handmade piece, not a flaw.

How big is the Luma 18?
About 17.75 inches across and 4.75 inches deep.
Is the Luma 18 LED version dimmable?
Yes: the LED is CL dimmable and gives about 9000 lumens of warm 3000K light. The bulb version dims with a regular incandescent dimmer.
Does the Luma 18 look good unlit?
Yes: the glossy opal glass reads as a clean white disc, and the clear edge keeps a hint of sparkle even in daylight.
Can the Luma 18 handle a steamy bathroom?
Yes. It is damp rated for indoor rooms, so bathroom and laundry ceilings are fine; it is not meant for outdoor porches or spots that get sprayed directly.
Do I ever change a bulb in the Luma 18 LED?
No: the LED is built in and rated for about 50,000 hours. The incandescent version takes three standard A19 bulbs instead.
What does the Luma 18 need for installation?
A standard 4-inch octagonal ceiling box and an electrician: it is hardwired, not plug-in. The install guide is linked above.
