The Design Story
Katie is a Besa ceiling light built around its glass. Hand-blown Opal Matte glass with radiating ribs: a soft white cased glass, satin-etched on the outside, whose ribs catch the light for a look both contemporary and natural. Besa’s signature is the glass. American designers work with European craftsmen, every shade is made by hand, and each one is inspected in Ohio before it leaves the factory, so the small variations you see are the mark of a handmade piece, not a flaw.

How big is the Katie 12?
About 12 inches across and 4.5 inches deep.
Is the Katie 12 LED version dimmable?
Yes: the LED is CL dimmable and gives about 2000 lumens of warm 3000K light. The bulb version dims with a regular incandescent dimmer.
Is the Katie 12 too decorative for a minimalist room?
The ribs are subtle, more texture than pattern, so it works in minimalist rooms that want a little softness on the ceiling.
Can the Katie 12 handle a steamy bathroom?
Yes. It is damp rated for indoor rooms, so bathroom and laundry ceilings are fine; it is not meant for outdoor porches or spots that get sprayed directly.
Do I ever change a bulb in the Katie 12 LED?
No: the LED is built in and rated for about 50,000 hours. The incandescent version takes standard A19 bulbs instead.
What does the Katie 12 need for installation?
A standard 4-inch octagonal ceiling box and an electrician: it is hardwired, not plug-in. The spec sheet is linked above.
