Ilu, a pendant painted by hand to look like Murano
Ilu is a white pendant with a hand-painted Murano-style glass finish. The painted surface gives the form a soft, slightly irregular glow, while the polycarbonate body keeps it light and the chrome fittings keep it crisp.
It is available in 11.8, 15.7 and 19.7 inches and hangs on a single drop.
The designer and the story
Filipe Lisboa began in Portugal, moved into lighting and founded Viso in 1999. Ilu is one of his designs for the Origins collection, and Viso lists the Pearson International Airport in Toronto among its related projects.

Where it works
Over a kitchen island in a row of three, along a corridor or at the heart of a stair.
Who this is not for
Ilu has a Murano-style painted finish on polycarbonate rather than blown glass, so it is not for anyone who wants true Murano craftsmanship.
Questions, answered
Who designed Ilu?
Filipe Lisboa, who founded Viso in 1999. It is part of the Origins collection.
What is Ilu made of?
A high-quality polycarbonate body with a hand-painted Murano-style glass finish and chrome metal components.
What does the glow look like?
Soft and slightly mottled, with the painted finish diffusing the lamp into an even glow.
How do I style Ilu?
Repeat one size in a line, or step through all three sizes at staggered heights. White sits well with timber, stone and chrome.
How should I clean it?
Our advice: let it cool and wipe with a soft dry cloth. Viso does not publish care instructions for Ilu.
What should I check before ordering?
The diameter and the 117 inch overall drop for your ceiling, and the maximum lamp wattage on the spec sheet.
