Hepworth is a tall, rounded wall light made of honed alabaster with a fine central line, made by CTO Lighting of London. It stands 18.1 in high and 3.9 in wide.

The Design Story

CTO drew Hepworth from the sculptures of Dame Barbara Hepworth, known for curved, abstract forms that echo the human figure. The elongated shape and the fine central line follow the same soft contours.

The Story of CTO Lighting

Chris and Clare Turner founded CTO Lighting in London in 1998 on one principle: design lights of uncompromising quality, using only the finest materials and working with elite British craftsmen. Chris is an engineer who designs and builds with meticulous detail, and Clare brings the eye of fashion. Together they built a name for understated luxury in hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-cut stone, and the collection has gone on to light The Savoy, The Dorchester, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.

How It Was Made

CTO assembles every Hepworth light to order in England. The body is pure brass in bronze, satin brass or polished nickel, set with a rounded panel of honed alabaster that CTO lights with an integrated LED.

The Finishes

Bronze. Deep, rich color and a robust build bring a touch of historical weight to a modern room, with a warm, inviting glow.

Satin Brass. Warm golden tones and a brushed, satin surface give a soft sheen that feels luxurious but understated. CTO selects the metal for its durability and beauty.

Polished Nickel. A bright, mirror-like silvery finish that reflects the light and colors around it. Each piece is made by skilled British artisans.

Honed Alabaster. Every piece is cut from natural stone, prized for its soft, diffused light. The veining occurs naturally, so no two are alike, from almost white to grey-veined.

Made for Real Life

The 110-130V version has an integrated 24W LED at 2700K and a built-in driver. It dims with a trailing-edge (phase-cut) dimmer. It weighs 8.8 lb and mounts on a rectangular wall box. It is IP20 for dry indoor rooms: CTO's IP44 bathroom version is 220-240V only and the 110-130V light is not damp rated. Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth and use a slightly damp cloth for marks. Skip detergents and abrasives on the alabaster and the metal.

Questions We Hear Most

Is Hepworth dimmable?

Yes. CTO lists trailing-edge (phase-cut) dimming as standard for the 110-130V version. DALI is listed only for 220-240V, and 0-10V control is available on request.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

The 110-130V version is not damp rated, so keep it out of wet zones and ask your electrician about placement. CTO's IP44 bathroom rating applies to the 220-240V version only.

What light source does it use?

It has an integrated 24W LED at 2700K, with the driver built into the body. There is no bulb to change.

Who was Hepworth?

CTO named the light after Dame Barbara Hepworth, the British sculptor known for curved, abstract forms. The light is a design inspired by her work, not a reproduction of any piece.

Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. If a mark remains on the metal or the alabaster, use a slightly damp lint-free cloth, then dry it with a soft dry one. CTO advises against detergents and abrasive cleaners.
