Dancing Queen is a suspension lamp with a horizontal central body that holds the LED source and ten thin metal cylinders acting as adjustable spotlights, designed in 2023 by Victor Vasilev for Oluce.
It comes in 2 finishes: matt black and lacquered grey, both with a matt black stem.
The Design Story
Oluce, founded in Milan in 1945, describes Dancing Queen as a decorative lamp with a technical soul. The spotlights, usually a purely technical component, become the decoration here, with cylinders of different diameters set irregularly along the central support. The result looks like a suspended sculpture and allows different lighting layouts at home.
The Designer
Victor Vasilev was born in 1974 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and moved to Israel with his family at age 15. He studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milano and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, and started his own Milan-based practice in 2004. He has designed for Boffi, Living Divani, MDF Italia, Antrax IT and Falper, and his work for Oluce includes Dancing Glass and SuperLuna, the latter a 2018 German Design Award winner.
