Cielo is a slim disc of fritted glass that sits close to the wall or ceiling, with an integrated LED, made by CTO Lighting of London. It comes in two sizes, 12.4 in and 15.2 in across.

The Design Story

Cielo takes its inspiration from the architectural cupola. CTO pairs that idea with its signature fritted glass, developed and handmade with its artisan partners. Here the glass becomes a shallow disc that hugs the surface, with a small metal boss at the center and a warm glow that spreads across the frosted glass.

The Story of CTO Lighting

Chris and Clare Turner founded CTO Lighting in London in 1998 on one principle: design lights of uncompromising quality, using only the finest materials and working with elite British craftsmen. Chris is an engineer who designs and builds with meticulous detail, and Clare brings the eye of fashion. Together they built a name for understated luxury in hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-cut stone, and the collection has gone on to light The Savoy, The Dorchester, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.

How It Was Made

CTO developed the fritted glass with its artisan partners and makes it by hand. CTO assembles each Cielo to order in England, with the metalwork finished in satin brass or bronze.

The Finishes

Satin Brass. Warm golden tones and a brushed, satin surface give a soft sheen that feels luxurious but understated. CTO selects the metal for its durability and beauty.

Bronze. Deep, rich color and a robust build bring a touch of historical weight to a modern room, with a warm, inviting glow.

Fritted Glass. CTO's signature glass, developed and handmade with its artisan partners, with a soft, frosted look that spreads the light evenly.

Why You’ll Love It

Cielo is the answer for narrow spaces and low ceilings. On a wall it takes up little room, which suits a hallway, a stair or a bedside. On a ceiling it sits flat and leaves headroom. Hang a few in a loose group, as in the photos on a stair wall, for a gallery effect.

Made for Real Life

The 110-130V version has an integrated 8W LED at 2700K and needs no bulb. The LED driver is installed in the ceiling rose and dims on a trailing-edge (phase-cut) dimmer. The small size weighs 6.6 lb and the large weighs 8.8 lb, and CTO asks you to check that the wall or ceiling can carry it. It is IP20 for dry indoor rooms. Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Skip detergents and abrasives.

Is the Cielo wall and ceiling light dimmable?

Yes. CTO lists a trailing-edge (phase-cut) dimmer for the 110-130V version, with the LED driver installed in the ceiling rose.

Do I need to buy bulbs?

No. The 8W LED is built in, at 2700K.

What is the difference between small and large?

The small is 12.4 in (315 mm) across and weighs 6.6 lb. The large is 15.2 in (385 mm) across and weighs 8.8 lb. Both are 5.1 in (130 mm) deep.

How heavy is it?

How do I clean it?

Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. If a mark remains, use a slightly damp lint-free cloth, then dry it with a soft dry one. CTO advises against detergents and abrasive cleaners.
