Pablo Pardo with the Pablo Studio

Raised among artists and engineers in Venezuela, Pablo Pardo builds lights that are sparse, useful and quietly clever. He opened his San Francisco studio in 1993 and still leads it; his work has collected honors from ICFF, NeoCon, Interior Design, Red Dot and the German Design Award, and a piece of his sits in the SFMOMA collection. The Pablo Studio, the brand’s in-house team in San Francisco, engineered and refined it.

The Design Story

Pablo Pardo founded Pablo Designs in San Francisco in 1993 to make lighting that is beautiful, sparse and deeply useful. Candél comes from the Pablo Studio, the company’s small team of makers and inventors, and it began with a simple image: a cone of light. Its fluted, vessel-like body lets the room filter through, while the glowing aluminum module inside casts a warm, intimate light. It won a 2020 Hospitality Design Product Award and Gold in Illumination at the 2021 International Design Awards.
