Astep Model 237/1 with Switch is Gino Sarfatti's wall light with one opaline sphere, first issued in 1959 and re-edited by Astep in 2018.
Wall light with one opaline sphere. Choose from 2 options.
The Design Story
Gino Sarfatti, founder of Arteluce, designed his opaline-sphere lights in Milan between 1959 and 1963. Each blown glass globe sits in a thin painted steel ring with a small cut, so the sphere can face down for direct light or up for a softer bounce off the wall or ceiling. Astep, the company founded by his grandson Alessandro Sarfatti, re-edits them from the original drawings.
Why You'll Love It
The opal glass hides the bulb completely, so the light reads as one even glow. The ring is the only line in the design, and you choose its colour: Black for graphic contrast, Champagne for warmth. Turn a sphere up or down and the same fixture gives two moods.
Made for Real Life
Wired at 120 V AC for North American homes. 1 × E14 socket, 60 W max; bulb not included; on/off switch.
