Anvers Pendant is a low, round pendant: a disc of honed alabaster in a solid brass body that hangs from a slim rod, made by CTO Lighting of London. It comes in 3 sizes: Small at 7.7 in, Medium at 13.2 in and Large at 21.5 in across.

It comes in 3 finishes: Bronze, Satin Brass and Antique Bronze, each with honed alabaster.

The Design Story

CTO named Anvers for the flat, linear plains of the Flemish landscape. A translucent disc of finely honed alabaster sits in a solid brass body, and the stone's natural striations make every light one of a kind.

Hung low, the disc reads as a calm, glowing plane of stone over a table or a bed.

The Story of CTO Lighting

Chris and Clare Turner founded CTO Lighting in London in 1998 on one principle: design lights of uncompromising quality, using only the finest materials and working with elite British craftsmen. Chris is an engineer who designs and builds with meticulous detail, and Clare brings the eye of fashion. Together they built a name for understated luxury in hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-cut stone, and the collection has gone on to light The Savoy, The Dorchester, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.

How It Was Made

CTO assembles every Anvers light to order in England. The body is solid brass, finished in bronze, satin brass or antique bronze, and it holds a disc of honed alabaster lit by an integrated LED.

The Finishes

Antique Bronze. Rich, deep tones with a natural patina. Each fixture shows the character of the material and the hand of the British artisans who finish it.

Bronze. Deep, rich color and a robust build bring a touch of historical weight to a modern room, with a warm, inviting glow.

Satin Brass. Warm golden tones and a brushed, satin surface give a soft sheen that feels luxurious but understated. CTO selects the metal for its durability and beauty.

Honed Alabaster. Every piece is cut from natural stone, prized for its soft, diffused light. The veining occurs naturally, so no two are alike, from almost white to grey-veined.

Made for Real Life

The 110-130V versions have integrated LEDs at 2700K: 10.5W in the Small, 17W in the Medium and 24W in the Large. They dim with a trailing-edge (phase-cut) dimmer. The Small and Medium hang on one 39.4 in (1000 mm) rod and the Large on three, all adjustable on site. They weigh 7.7 lb, 19.8 lb and 55.1 lb, and CTO asks you to check that the ceiling can carry the load. All are IP20 for dry indoor rooms. Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth and use a slightly damp cloth for marks. Skip detergents and abrasives on the alabaster and the metal.

Questions We Hear Most

Is Anvers Pendant dimmable?

Yes. CTO lists trailing-edge (phase-cut) dimming as standard for the 110-130V version. DALI is listed only for 220-240V, and 0-10V control is available on request.

What do the numbers in the sizes mean?

Small, Medium and Large are CTO's three sizes. The discs are 7.7 in (195 mm), 13.2 in (335 mm) and 21.5 in (545 mm) across, and each is 1.9 in (48 mm) high.

How far does it hang?

Each comes with 39.4 in (1000 mm) rods that you adjust on site. The minimum overall drop is 4.1 in (103 mm) for the Small and Medium and 4.3 in (108 mm) for the Large.

What light source does it use?

It has an integrated LED at 2700K: 10.5W in the Small, 17W in the Medium and 24W in the Large. There is no bulb to change.

How heavy is it?

The Small weighs 7.7 lb (3.5 kg), the Medium 19.8 lb (9 kg) and the Large 55.1 lb (25 kg). CTO notes that the ceiling structure must be able to carry it.

Is every alabaster piece the same?

No. Alabaster is natural stone, so the veining and tone vary from piece to piece.

How do I clean it?

Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. If a mark remains on the metal or the alabaster, use a slightly damp lint-free cloth, then dry it with a soft dry one. CTO advises against detergents and abrasive cleaners.
