Spoon Table Lamp by Penta

Spoon is an adjustable LED task lamp with a hand-woven leather detail, designed in 2017 for Penta by Umberto Asnago. This is the table version.

It comes in 3 finishes: black leather or cognac leather on a matt black metal structure, or grey metal.

The Design Story

Penta calls Spoon “a small masterpiece of beauty and functionality.” A slim metal stem and shade can be adjusted to aim a focused pool of light where you need it, and the hand-woven leather brings a crafted, tactile note to a very technical object. It is made by hand in Brianza, Italy.

The Designer

Umberto Asnago has given his working life to design and planning. After holding important positions at Giorgetti, he committed himself fully to design in 2006 and became one of Penta’s historic names. With his long experience and refined creative toolbox, he has created many of the iconic collections in the Penta catalog.

Spoon is his 2017 design for Penta.

Why You’ll Love It

The shade and stem adjust, so Spoon puts a focused light on a book, a keyboard or a bedside table without lighting the whole room. The woven leather adds a crafted, tactile finish, and the grey metal version is a cooler, more technical take on the same shape. At 27.6 in high and 5.9 in in diameter, it is compact enough for a desk or nightstand.

Made for Real Life

The 4W LED is built in, so there is no bulb to buy or change, and it gives 370 lumens at 3000K, a warm white. A dimmer on the cable lets you set the level. Penta’s care and maintenance instructions are linked above.
