Clip Pendant Light by Penta

Clip is a pendant made of a thin disc of light and an open ring that hooks onto the cable, designed in 2017 for Penta by Daniel Debiasi and Federico Sandri.

It comes in 2 sizes (Mini and Large) and 3 finishes: Matt Black, Matt Gold and Matt Bronze, with a choice of 3000K or 2700K light.

The Design Story

Penta designs and makes its lamps by hand in Brianza, Italy. Clip keeps its idea simple: a slim metal disc carries the light, and an open slot at the top attaches the lamp to the support cable, a little like a paperclip. Penta calls it a contemporary and glamorous ceiling jewel. Hung alone it is a quiet accent; hung in a row or at different heights it becomes a small constellation of discs.

The Designers

Daniel Debiasi and Federico Sandri founded their design studio in 2010. They work between Bolzano and Verona on product design, and sometimes on exhibitions and design strategy for companies. Their work grows from a steady dialogue about space, culture and behavior, and from experiments with materials and processes that connect manufacture and craftsmanship. They have designed for Antoniolupi, Lema, Ligne Roset, Normann Copenhagen, Stelton and Penta, among others, and many of their projects have won international design awards.

How big are the Clip pendants?

The Mini is 7 in (18 cm) across and 7.5 in (19 cm) tall. The Large is 15.7 in (40 cm) across and 11 in (28 cm) tall. Both hang from a 4 m (about 13 ft) cable.

Should I choose 3000K or 2700K for Clip?

Both are warm white. 3000K gives a slightly clearer light, while 2700K is softer and more golden. Pick 2700K for bedrooms and dining spaces, or 3000K for kitchens and work areas.

Can Clip be dimmed?

Dimming comes from the canopy. Penta lists a type C canopy for the Large and a type F canopy for the Mini, each in on-off and dimmable versions, and the installation sheets for the 110V versions are linked on this page.

Which canopy does Clip use?
