The Design Story

A spherical-shaped diffuser hand-blown in opaque white glass is enhanced by a removable tapering stem which emits a soft glow. The stem is made of steel with tubing covered in polycarbonate sleeve. Available in table, floor and suspension with 4 different globe sizes and Calice which features a bottom-less globe.

Meet the Designers

Michele De Lucchi (born 1951 in Ferrara) is an Italian architect and designer and was a member of the Memphis group in the 1980s. With Giancarlo Fassina he designed the Tolomeo in 1987, which won the Compasso d'Oro in 1989 and grew into a whole family, from Micro to Mega.

Huub Ubbens: Born in The Netherlands in 1964, Huub Ubbens ran Artemide’s design department from 1997-2004. Deeply interested in the culture and science of light, he believes light displays both rhythm and geographic influence.

Perfect for dining tables, kitchen islands, entries and open-plan living spaces. Good to know: the bulb versions need E12 bulbs, which are not included, it is made for dry indoor rooms and an electrician should hardwire it.
