The Design Story
The Tokyo studio YOY loves objects that question what we expect. Here the idea is almost absurdly simple: remove the lampshade and project its picture instead. Concealed in the head is a small LED and a lens that throws the outline of a classic shade onto the wall.

Made for Real Life
Place it close to a pale, plain wall; textured or dark walls soften the illusion. It plugs into a standard outlet. Pairs well with YOY illusion wall light, Bud cordless lamp and Parasol table lamp.

Why We Love It
A small piece of optical magic that never stops surprising people. Innermost began in London in 1999, when Steve Jones and Russell Cameron left design consultancy to build a lighting brand that mixed English tradition with a punkish, non-conformist streak. Concept, quality and wit were the house rules.
