Narciso is a pendant built around a cone that splits to spread and reflect its light, designed in 2017 for Penta by Nicola Gallizia.

The Design Story

Penta designs and makes its lamps by hand in Brianza, Italy. Narciso takes its name from the myth of Narcissus. As in the myth, the cone splits up to spread and reflect the light, much as water reflects an image. Penta’s line for the collection is “Splitting up to spread and reflect the delicate light.”

The Designer

Nicola Gallizia was born in Milan and studied architecture at the Milan Polytechnic. From 1990 to 1999 he worked with Luca Meda on projects for Molteni & C. and Dada, then worked as a consultant. Since 1999 he has worked with the group Chamber, and in 2005 he opened his own studio, CZ36, in Milan. Narciso is his 2017 design for Penta.

Why You’ll Love It

The split cone gives Narciso a clear, sculptural outline in either matt black or matt gold, and the light is spread and bounced by the shape instead of coming straight from a source.
