Misty Pendant Light by Penta

Misty is a pendant with a double glass shade wrapped around a metal core, designed in 2025 for Penta by Bartoli Design with Andrea Citterio.

It comes in 2 sizes (Mini and Micro) with a matt black metal core and a mirroring glass shade in silver, gold or black, in 3000K or 2700K light.

The Design Story

Misty’s double borosilicate glass shade wraps around the metal core in a quiet dialogue between glass and aluminum. Penta describes the shaded, semi-transparent mirrored finish as reflecting the light around it while veiling the metal heart of the lamp in mystery. It can be used alone or in groups.

The Story

Penta works in borosilicate glass, the same family of glass used for laboratory ware. It is resistant to thermal shock, expands only about one third as much as ordinary soda-lime glass, withstands temperatures of about 500°C (932°F) and stands up well to chemicals. Each piece is shaped by hand with burners, which is why no two shades are exactly alike.

The Designers

Bartoli Design is the studio of Paolo and Anna Bartoli, who carry on the design work Carlo Bartoli began in 1960. The studio’s approach rests on simplicity and balance, from the first concept through product development and communication, and it also takes on architecture, exhibition, interior and urban design. It has worked with makers such as Arflex, Kartell, Kristalia and Segis. The R606Uno chair for Segis won the XXI Compasso d’Oro ADI in 2008, and the Gaia armchair for Arflex belongs to the permanent design collection of MoMA in New York.

How It Was Made

Penta designs and builds its lamps by hand in Brianza, Italy, and backs them with a 2-year manufacturer guarantee from the Auralis Group. Misty has a matt black metal core and a double shade in borosilicate glass with a mirroring finish. The light source is an integrated 4W LED.

Why You’ll Love It

With the lamp off, the mirrored shade reflects the room. With it on, the light glows softly through the glass. The 4W LED puts out 211 lumens at 3000K in the Mini with silver or gold glass (136 with black), and 221 lumens in the Micro with silver or gold (142 with black). The Micro is 11.8 in tall and the Mini 15.7 in, which makes both easy to group.

Made for Real Life

The 4W LED is built in, so there is no bulb to buy or change. The cable is about 169 to 173 in long. Each lamp weighs under a pound. Dimming and switching depend on the canopy you choose: Penta lists type B canopies in on-off, 0-10V, DALI and phase-cut versions.

What sizes does Misty come in?

The Micro is 1.6 in wide and 11.8 in high and the Mini is 1.6 in wide and 15.7 in high. The cable is about 169 to 173 in long.

Should I choose 3000K or 2700K for Misty?

Both are warm white. 3000K gives a little more light (211 to 221 lumens in the silver and gold finishes) and a slightly clearer light, while 2700K gives a softer light (190 to 199 lumens) and a softer, more golden glow. Pick 2700K for bedrooms and dining spaces, or 3000K for kitchens and work areas.

Why is the black glass dimmer than silver or gold?

The black mirroring glass lets less light through, so it reads as a quieter, moodier glow than silver or gold.

Can Misty be dimmed?

Dimming comes from the canopy. Penta lists type B canopies for on-off, 0-10V, DALI and phase-cut control, so please confirm the canopy with us before you order.

Can I hang several Misty pendants together?

Yes. Penta says Misty can be used as a single element or in multiples.
