Pablo Pardo

Raised among artists and engineers in Venezuela, Pablo Pardo builds lights that are sparse, useful and quietly clever. He opened his San Francisco studio in 1993 and still leads it; his work has collected honors from ICFF, NeoCon, Interior Design, Red Dot and the German Design Award, and a piece of his sits in the SFMOMA collection.

The Design Story

Pablo Pardo founded Pablo Designs in San Francisco in 1993 to create light that fosters harmony between people and their spaces. Bel Occhio, Italian for beautiful eye, is a study in weightlessness and transparency. Its suspended inner column creates focused illumination while the surrounding clear shell produces a transformative ambient glow, which lets the table version act as an infinitely adjustable multi-position spotlight.

Turn the column toward a wall for a wash of color, toward the ceiling for ambient light, or toward a page for a reading beam. The warm 2700K, 90 CRI light stays flattering at every angle, and the clear sphere looks like sculpture when the lamp is off.

Plug it in and dim it with the in-line slide dimmer on the cord. It uses one standard 8 W LED BT-15 bulb with an E26 medium base. The sphere rotates 360° around and 360° in tilt, so you can re-aim it any time.
