Amanita 319 is the outdoor version of Amanita: an LED path light with an angled stem and a flat disk, designed by Mariana Pellegrino Soto for Oluce in 2019.
It comes in one finish: Indian brown painted metal with a transparent PMMA diffuser.
The Design Story
Oluce, founded in Milan in 1945, built Amanita from two metal discs: a thinner disc forms the base and a thicker disc holds the LED light source. A slim, angled Z-shaped stem joins and spaces the two, which gives the lamp its sloped, graphic silhouette. The outdoor version works as a path light, with proportions, materials and finish revised for use outside.
The Designers
Mariana Pellegrino Soto grew up in Caracas and studied product design at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome. Her thesis project was developed together with Oluce, which led to her work for the company. In 2016 she won the Best Packaging Award at the Global Bottled Water Awards for a bottle design. She now works at F&N Compositi.

How It Was Made
Oluce makes the Amanita 319 in Italy from metal and PMMA. The stem is sloped and conical, the metal is painted in Indian brown, and the diffuser is a transparent PMMA disk.

Amanita 319 lights a garden path or a terrace edge with a direct, controlled beam, and the angled stem gives each lamp a graphic line. Set in a row, the lamps mark a route and look like small sculptures during the day.
Made for Real Life
The LED is integrated, so there is no bulb to change. It gives 600 lumens at 3000K with a CRI above 85. The sheet lists the lamp as IP44 and CE rated, and it is not dimmable. It does not carry a UL listing. Wipe the painted metal with a soft damp cloth and avoid abrasive or solvent cleaners.
