The Sisters Pendant M by Ieva Kalēja for Mammalampa

The Sisters Pendant M by Ieva Kalēja for Mammalampa — a drum of hand-painted canvas that glows like a small abstract painting.

Eleven painterly colorways, a 16.9-inch drum, and a cord color of your choosing.

The Design Story

The Sisters are painted the way a painter prepares a canvas: color is laid on by hand in layers, with visible brushstrokes and soft transitions, so each shade reads like a small abstract landscape. Ieva Kalēja designed the drum shape to be a pure, quiet form that lets the painting lead. Because every shade is painted by hand in Latvia, no two Sisters are identical.

Ieva Kalēja, the Riga designer behind Mammalampa, was named by Elle Decor in 2020 among the ten most talented women designers in the world, as reported by FOLD magazine, and in 2026 she leads the product-design jury of Latvia’s National Design Award.

Why You’ll Love It

Mammalampa describes the colorways like moods of the sky: Fog is soft and neutral, Luna calm and airy, Twilight deep and moody, Rain cool with a band of blue, Dawn light and uplifting, Sunrise pale with a red lower edge, Mist a dark layered palette, Noon warm and earthy, Aurora a balance of soft and bold, Blossom a warm, earthy blend, and Intense a vibrant contrast of bold tones. Hang one as a quiet accent, or mix several for a bouquet of color over a table.

Made for Real Life

It hardwires to a white steel canopy on up to 80 inches of textile-lined cord in White, Red, Grey or Brown. One E26 LED bulb up to 50W, dimmable. A soft brush keeps the canvas fresh. Pairs beautifully with the The Sisters statement pendant, The Sisters floor lamp and The Bride pendant.

Questions We Hear Most

Which Sisters colorway is the calmest?

Fog and Luna are soft neutrals; Dawn is light and uplifting.

Which colorways make the boldest statement?

Intense, Twilight, Mist and Aurora carry the strongest contrasts.

Why choose a red cord?

A red cord is a playful graphic line that echoes the red edge of Sunrise and Aurora; white and grey disappear, brown feels warm.

Will my lamp match the photo exactly?

Closely, but each shade is painted by hand, so brushstrokes and transitions vary slightly.

Is there a larger Sisters pendant?

Yes, the XL pendant is 35.4" across with three lights, and there is a matching floor lamp.

Why does my The Sisters pendant take about 55 days?

Mammalampa makes each lamp by hand in Latvia after it is ordered, so yours is made for you rather than pulled from a shelf.

Why We Love It

A painting you can hang from the ceiling, and switch on. Mammalampa is a family studio in Riga, Latvia, built around one idea: start with a real material, do as little to it as possible, and let light reveal it. Every lamp is made by hand, which is why no two are ever quite the same.
