Wick Classic is the full-height original of Graypants' portable lamp family: a slim, glowing column about the size of a tall candle that you carry from the dinner table to the porch step to the bedside without ever reaching for an outlet. It is a cordless, rechargeable LED lamp with a warm 2600K glow, a carrying ring at the top and a touch-friendly, dimmable light.
It comes in six finishes: Mist Gray, Sage Green, Black, Brass, Graphite and Aluminum. Wick Classic is in stock and ships in 1 to 2 days, and it is a gift that tends to land well with both design lovers and people who simply like a soft light at the table.
The Design Story
Graypants describes Wick as its first portable lamp collection, and the idea is charmingly simple: take the chamberstick, the old candle holder you carried from room to room, and strip it back to its essentials. The studio's own line for it is the romance of a candle with the utility of a flashlight, helped along by newer battery and LED technology that makes such a slim form possible.
Wick is designed with the belief that light is meant to be shared.
Wick was designed by Seth Grizzle, Arno Ruijzenaars and Erwin Termaat, a collaboration between Graypants' Amsterdam and Seattle studios. Graypants itself began in Seattle, founded by architects Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker, and is known for lighting built from unexpected materials. The original Wick was named a winner of The Competition and was a Best of Year Awards finalist in the product category.
Materials and Finish
The body is plated aluminum with acrylic, finished in your choice of Mist Gray, Sage Green, Black, Brass, Graphite or Aluminum. Brass and Graphite are the two quiet classics; Mist Gray and Sage Green bring soft, painterly color to a shelf; Black disappears into a dark table; Aluminum is the cool, bright metal option.
Where It Shines
Because there is no cord, Wick Classic goes where a table lamp usually cannot: the center of a long dining table, a bathtub ledge, a garden wall, a hotel nightstand, or a console beside the front door. At 10.2 in (26 cm) tall it is tall enough to cast light over a place setting and slim enough to group in threes. Charge it over USB-C, set it down, and touch it on.
Graypants' own lifestyle photography shows it paired in clusters, in matched trios, and standing on bathroom and bedroom surfaces, and that is how we like it best: several at slightly different heights, glowing at one dimming level.

Not the Right Fit If
Wick Classic is rated IP20, so it is meant for indoor and dry spots, and it is not made for a rainy patio table. If you need a lamp for open-air terraces or a restaurant that wants remote control and charging trays, look at Wick PRO instead. It is also a one-light, 1 W lamp rather than a task light for reading small print.
Questions We Hear Most
How long does the battery last on one charge?
Graypants lists run time at 12 to 150 hours depending on the dimming setting. A full charge takes about 1.5 hours with a 2A USB-C charger.
What is the difference between Wick Classic and Wick S?
They share the same diameter, light and battery design. Wick Classic stands 10.2 in (26 cm) tall, while Wick S is the shorter version at 6.5 in (16.5 cm), better for shelves and low tables.
Which finish should I pick?
Brass and Graphite are the timeless pair and photograph warmly on wood. Mist Gray and Sage Green are soft, muted colors for a calmer look. Black suits dark tables and modern interiors, and Aluminum gives the coolest, brightest metal tone.
Can I use Wick Classic outdoors?
Wick Classic is rated IP20, which means indoor and dry locations, such as a covered, sheltered corner. For rain exposure, Graypants makes Wick PRO with an IP65 rating.
Does it work with the Wick PRO remote and charging pads?
No. Graypants states that the remote control and wireless charging pads are for the Wick PRO line and do not work with the classic Wick. Charge Wick Classic with its USB-C cable.
Does it come with a bulb or cord?
There is nothing to replace: the LED is built in and the lamp runs on its rechargeable battery. A USB-C charging cable is the only cord involved.
