The Wave Console Table brings MacMaster's flowing timber to the hallway. Two dramatically curved laminations of plywood and veneer rise into an arch beneath a glass top, so the base reads as a sculpture framed by the glass above it.
Alex MacMaster launched the console in 2017. It is made by hand to order in his Worcestershire workshop, in walnut or oak, in two sizes.
“Where timber becomes art.”
The Design Story
The console grew out of the same idea as the Wave Coffee Table: timber that seems to move. Here Alex works with just two laminations, each curving in a deep sweep that meets the other to form an open arch. The simplicity makes the line of the wood the whole story.

Each lamination is birch plywood from FSC and PEFC certified forests, faced with American black walnut or American white oak veneer and bent by hand. The glass top sits lightly above, letting the arch show through from every side.
About the Designer
Alex MacMaster founded MacMaster Design in 2009 on a simple belief: that the objects we live with every day deserve the care usually kept for fine art. He works from a studio in the Worcestershire countryside, at The Guildings in Trimpley near Bewdley, and designs and builds each piece himself, from the first sketch to the final finish.
His work draws on Art Deco geometry, the organic forms of plants and flowers, and the quiet beauty of timber grain. Design, development, making and packing all happen under one roof, and offcuts from one range feed the next, so very little goes to waste. MacMaster pieces now light private homes, luxury hotels and flagship stores across the UK, Europe and beyond.
Why You'll Love It
A console is often the first thing a visitor sees, and the Wave makes that moment count. Its arch is bold yet calm, and the glass keeps the piece from feeling heavy in a narrow space. Add a lamp, a bowl of keys or a vase of flowers and it becomes the welcome to your home.
Where It's Best Placed
Both sizes stand 29.9 in high. The Large is 55 in long and 17.7 in deep, for a wide entrance hall or behind a sofa. The Small is 37.4 in long and 13.8 in deep, for a narrower hallway, a landing or a bedroom wall. Allow a clear walkway of about 36 in in front of the table.

Alex MacMaster designed the Wave Console Table and launched it in 2017. It is made by hand in Worcestershire, England.
How is the Wave Console Table made?
