Vortex is a ceiling fan from Maxim Lighting. It comes in 2 blade spans: 52 in and 60 in. It is offered in Dark Satin Nickel, Natural Aged Brass, Black or Charcoal Bronze. It comes with or without an LED light.
The Design Story
Vortex brings sharp, angular blades together at its center housing for a modern yet transitional look. Indoor versions come in finishes such as Natural Aged Brass with white blades and Dark Satin Nickel; outdoor, wet-rated versions in Black or Charcoal Bronze. A DC motor and an included magnetic wall-mounted remote make it easy to run, with or without an LED light kit.
Why You’ll Love It
A DC motor runs quietly and efficiently, with 6 speeds and a reverse setting that pushes warm air down in winter. It moves up to 5,184 cubic feet of air per minute on high, at up to 244 CFM per watt. ENERGY STAR certified. It comes with a wall control (on/off, light/rev/speed control). The LED light gives 810 to 975 lumens, with a selectable color temperature, and it dims. 3 abs blades. Where It Shines
In bedrooms, living rooms, family rooms and kitchens, where moving air makes a room feel several degrees cooler in summer, and the reverse setting pushes warm air down from the ceiling in winter. A fan with a light also replaces the ceiling fixture, so one box does both jobs.
Questions We Hear Most
Which size Vortex fan fits my room?
The 52 in span suits rooms of about 144 to 225 sq ft or a little more, such as most bedrooms, kitchens and dining rooms. The 60 in span suits rooms of about 225 to 400 sq ft, such as a primary bedroom or living room.
Will it work with my ceiling height?
On a standard 9 ft ceiling the fan hangs on its short rod; on taller ceilings, add a longer downrod so the blades sit about 8 to 9 ft above the floor. Maxim downrods are sold separately.
How do I control it?
It comes with a wall control.
Does it have a light?
Yes, an LED light is built in on the light versions. It dims (triac or elv). There are no bulbs to change on the integrated LED versions.
Can it be used outdoors or in a bathroom?
That depends on the version: dry rated (52 in, No light); wet rated (52 in, No light); wet rated (52 in, Integrated LED light); dry rated (52 in, Integrated LED light); dry rated (60 in, Integrated LED light); wet rated (60 in, Integrated LED light). Wet rated can take direct rain; damp rated belongs under a roof; dry rated is for indoors.
