Pablo Pardo with the Pablo Studio
Raised among artists and engineers in Venezuela, Pablo Pardo builds lights that are sparse, useful and quietly clever. He opened his San Francisco studio in 1993 and still leads it; his work has collected honors from ICFF, NeoCon, Interior Design, Red Dot and the German Design Award, and a piece of his sits in the SFMOMA collection. The Pablo Studio, the brand’s in-house team in San Francisco, engineered and refined it.
The Design Story
Totem was created by Pablo Pardo, the Venezuelan-born industrial designer who founded Pablo Designs in San Francisco in 1993, together with Pablo Studio, a small group of makers and inventors with backgrounds in industrial design and craft. The idea was to celebrate random combinations: a family of mouth-blown glass shades in four soft geometric profiles (A, B, C and D, largest to smallest) built around one modular LED platform, so each owner can compose a light that is personal to their space.
