Torres is a floor uplighter with a funnelled shade on a slim, solid body, made by CTO Lighting of London. It stands 68.9 in tall and throws a strong wash of light up to the ceiling or into a corner.

Torres is a funnelled shade on a slim, solid body, and CTO describes its conical shape as reminiscent of ancient towers. The shade comes in polished nickel, bronze or honed alabaster, so the same shape reads as architectural in metal and softer in stone.

The Story of CTO Lighting

Chris and Clare Turner founded CTO Lighting in London in 1998 on one principle: design lights of uncompromising quality, using only the finest materials and working with elite British craftsmen. Chris is an engineer who designs and builds with meticulous detail, and Clare brings the eye of fashion. Together they built a name for understated luxury in hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-cut stone, and the collection has gone on to light The Savoy, The Dorchester, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.

How It Was Made

CTO assembles every light to order in England. The body and funnelled shade are metal, finished in antique bronze, bronze or polished nickel, and the alabaster versions carry a shade of honed alabaster, cut from natural stone, on a bronze body.

The Finishes

Bronze. Deep, rich color and a robust build bring a touch of historical weight to a modern room, with a warm, inviting glow.

Polished Nickel. A bright, mirror-like silvery finish that reflects the light and colors around it. Each piece is made by skilled British artisans.

Honed Alabaster. Every piece is cut from natural stone, prized for its soft, diffused light. The veining occurs naturally, so no two are alike, from almost white to grey-veined.

Made for Real Life

The 110-130V version is a plug-in lamp with a 98.4 in (2500 mm) black cord and an inline switch, and it takes one GU10 LED bulb of 2700K, from 6W up to a recommended 9.6W. The bulb is not supplied, and CTO's data sheet does not list dimming for this lamp. At 26.5 lb it has a solid base. Dust with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth and use a slightly damp cloth for marks. Skip detergents and abrasives.

Questions We Hear Most

Is Torres Floor dimmable?

CTO's data sheet does not list dimming for the Torres Floor. It has an inline switch on its cord for on and off. If you want to dim it, ask us before ordering.

What light source does it use?

One GU10 LED bulb at 2700K, from 6W up to a recommended 9.6W. CTO does not supply the bulb.

What is the alabaster version?

It is the Bronze Torres with a shade of honed alabaster in place of the metal funnel. The stone softens the light and gives a more diffused glow, while the metal funnel gives a sharper, more architectural beam.

How big is Torres Floor?

It is 11.8 in (300 mm) wide, 11.8 in (300 mm) deep and 68.9 in (1750 mm) high.

How heavy is it?

It weighs 26.5 lb (12 kg), most of it in the solid base, so it stands firmly.

Is every alabaster piece the same?
