The Design Story
The design of the Tolomeo is characterized by clean and minimalist lines, with a structure made of aluminum. This material gives the lamp not only a modern and sophisticated look but also remarkable lightness and robustness. The lamp head, adjustable in all directions, is equipped with a stamped aluminum reflector that ensures uniform light distribution, making it ideal for various lighting needs. One of the distinctive elements of the Tolomeo is its articulated arm system.

Meet the Designers
Michele De Lucchi (born 1951 in Ferrara) is an Italian architect and designer and was a member of the Memphis group in the 1980s. With Giancarlo Fassina he designed the Tolomeo in 1987, which won the Compasso d'Oro in 1989 and grew into a whole family, from Micro to Mega.
Giancarlo Fassina is an Italian designer and a longtime Artemide collaborator. His technical precision was key to the Tolomeo, which he co-designed with Michele De Lucchi in 1987.
Famous on Screen
Look closely at M's desk in the James Bond film Skyfall (2012): that is a Tolomeo Basculante table lamp. Few lamps say "serious work happens here" quite like a Tolomeo.
Why You'll Love It
- Recognized with Compasso d'Oro ADI 1989.
- Mount it on a S-shaped wall bracket or on a J-shaped wall bracket.
- The integrated-LED option has CRI >90; bulb-version color rendering depends on the bulb selected.
- Fully adjustable, articulated arm structure.
- Tiltable and 360 degrees rotatable diffuser.
Made for Real Life
Perfect for bedside reading, hallways, living rooms and offices; anywhere floor and table space is tight. Good to know: the bulb versions need E26 bulbs, which are not included, it is made for dry indoor rooms and an electrician should hardwire it.

Questions We Hear Most
Base, clamp or pivot: which way should I mount the Tolomeo Mini?
A base lets you move the lamp anywhere; a clamp frees up the whole desktop; an inset pivot is the most permanent and cleanest look, set into a hole in the desk. Pick the one that matches how you work (our advice).
When will my Tolomeo Mini ship?
Standard delivery: leaves Artemide's warehouse in 2–4 weeks, plus transit time. We email your confirmed ship date after you order.
Is the Tolomeo the lamp on M's desk in Skyfall?
Yes: M's desk at MI6 in Skyfall (2012) has a Tolomeo Basculante table lamp.
What kind of light does the Tolomeo Mini give?
For TOL1121, light output and color temperature depend on the E26/A19 bulb selected (100W maximum). The integrated-LED TOL1124 is 3000K with 593 delivered lumens.
How do I dim or switch the Tolomeo Mini?
TOL1121 has an on/off switch on the head. Head-mounted dimming applies to integrated-LED TOL1124.
How much space does the Tolomeo Mini need?
Plan for Length 28" (710 mm), Height 22.4" (570 mm), Max Extension Height 43.7" (1110 mm), Max Extension Length 41.7" (1060 mm) (Artemide's figures). The line drawing in the gallery shows every measurement.

The Tolomeo is the lamp we recommend most often. It is endlessly adjustable, quietly beautiful in plain aluminum, and there is a version for almost every corner of a home.
Perfect for bedside reading, hallways, living rooms and offices; anywhere floor and table space is tight.
Maybe not for bathrooms, showers, covered porches or outdoor spaces: it is rated IP20 for dry indoor locations.
Our pick: Aluminum, LED 10W · 3000K, for built-in LED, no bulbs needed and a warm-but-clear 3000K glow. That version ships from Artemide in 2–4 weeks.
