Spiral Side Table by MacMaster

The Spiral Side Table brings the sculptural geometry of MacMaster's Spiral range to the side of a sofa or bed. Five curved legs meet in a pentagon and twist outward beneath a round or square glass top.

Launched by Alex MacMaster in 2016, it is made by hand to order in his Worcestershire workshop, in walnut or oak.

The Design Story

Like the Spiral Dining Table, the side table starts from five laminated legs mitred together at the centre. At this smaller scale the spiral feels even more like a flower turning toward the light, and the glass top keeps it in full view.

Each leg is birch plywood from FSC and PEFC certified forests, faced with American black walnut or American white oak veneer and shaped by hand. Choose a round top for a softer look or a square top for a crisper one.

About the Designer

Alex MacMaster founded MacMaster Design in 2009 on a simple belief: that the objects we live with every day deserve the care usually kept for fine art. He works from a studio in the Worcestershire countryside, at The Guildings in Trimpley near Bewdley, and designs and builds each piece himself, from the first sketch to the final finish.

His work draws on Art Deco geometry, the organic forms of plants and flowers, and the quiet beauty of timber grain. Design, development, making and packing all happen under one roof, and offcuts from one range feed the next, so very little goes to waste. MacMaster pieces now light private homes, luxury hotels and flagship stores across the UK, Europe and beyond.
