The Spiral Dining Table is built around a single, striking idea: five curved legs that mitre together at the centre to form a pentagon, spiralling outward like the petals of a flower beneath a round glass top.
Alex MacMaster launched the Spiral range in 2016. Each table is made by hand to order in his Worcestershire workshop, in walnut or oak.
“Where timber becomes art.”
The Design Story
The Spiral range began with geometry. Five legs, each a curved lamination, meet at precise mitres so that together they form a pentagon at the heart of the base. From there each leg flares out and down, giving the table both a strong structure and a sense of movement.

The legs are birch plywood from FSC and PEFC certified forests, faced with American black walnut or American white oak veneer. Through the glass top the spiral is always on show, from the chair you sit in or from across the room.
About the Designer
Alex MacMaster founded MacMaster Design in 2009 on a simple belief: that the objects we live with every day deserve the care usually kept for fine art. He works from a studio in the Worcestershire countryside, at The Guildings in Trimpley near Bewdley, and designs and builds each piece himself, from the first sketch to the final finish.
His work draws on Art Deco geometry, the organic forms of plants and flowers, and the quiet beauty of timber grain. Design, development, making and packing all happen under one roof, and offcuts from one range feed the next, so very little goes to waste. MacMaster pieces now light private homes, luxury hotels and flagship stores across the UK, Europe and beyond.
Why You'll Love It
A dining table is where people gather, and the Spiral gives that gathering a centrepiece. The round top brings everyone into the conversation, and the base turns the space beneath the table into something to admire. It has a strong sculptural presence without overwhelming a room.
Where It's Best Placed
The standard table is 47 in across and 29.9 in high, which comfortably seats four, as the maker's photos show. Plan for about 36 in of clear space between the table edge and walls or furniture so chairs can be pulled out. Larger tops, up to 53.1 in across, can be made on request.
