Carmine Deganello with the Pablo Studio
For Carmine Deganello, a lamp begins with a material and an experiment. Based in Amsterdam and Milan, he has worked with Pablo for years, and his designs have been exhibited at Milan’s Triennale Design Museum and Vienna’s MAK. The Pablo Studio, the brand’s in-house team in San Francisco, engineered and refined it.
The Design Story
Solis was designed for Pablo Designs by Carmine Deganello, a Milan-based experimental product and architectural designer whose practice is driven by research into materials. With Solis he set out to engage with light in its archetypal form, the sun’s rays: a laser-cut polyester shade held in tension between two rings, so light escapes through hundreds of fine cuts and casts shimmering rays and radiating patterns across a room. Pablo Designs has made lighting in San Francisco since 1993.
